Reformation Sunday

The artists and musicians of Cardiphonia have a gift for churches across the nation this week. They have reworked a collection of hymns by Samuel Stone, which were written in 1866 and based on each article of the Apostles Creed. You can read about this project here, and a free download of the 15 song album is available here. Please read more about this collaboration of arstists, and support their work by listening to this beautiful project!

Hello from Katie!

My name is Katie Hogan, and in the coming months I’ll be helping Sandra keep this blog updated. I am a passionate musician, the fiancée of a wonderful man, a graduate of Belmont University, and a Nashvillian. I’m also a lifelong lover of hymns, so I’m thrilled to be helping with the New Old Hymns project.

When I was young in age and in faith, my parents designed and led the worship in my church. They both love the richness and tradition of hymns, and my mother is a veritable encyclopedia of hymn texts! Through their example I, too, grew to love hymns, and throughout my spiritual walk I have often found solace and joy in the words written centuries ago by our like-minded predecessors. Many heroes of the Christian faith left a beautiful legacy in the form of song. Today, we are privileged to be able to join them in worship – and encourage the contemporary body of Christ – by reviving these texts.

Our goal is to use this site to bring the hymn community closer together, and to create a resource for worship leaders and pastors. Soon we’ll begin featuring music from other modern hymn writers, as well as essays and personal testimonies about the importance of preserving these songs. If you have anything you would like to share with the New Old Hymns community, email newoldhymns@gmail.com and join the conversation!

Indelible Grace Ryman Show Photos

On June 30, the whole Indelible Grace family gathered for a special hymn sing at The Ryman Auditorium.  It was a celebration of 10+ years of singing hymns together as a community and a reflection of how these hymns have become a formative backdrop for our collective and individual stories.

Here is a link to the photos, where you get a glimpse of the occasion.
